Detox Water is fresh water flavoured with natural herbs, fruits or vegetables. As it is summer I like to use refreshing mint, lemon, cucumber and the grape to add some natural sweetens. But let’s get into the real meaning of detox and how does it work.
To answer this question I asked my friend Gabby, a Sydney-based Naturopath and Nutritionist from The Tolerant Table. This is what she confirms:
To be frank, Detox water has no proven nutritional benefit, and it is not proved that it actually has detox benefits per se.
It certainly improves your hydration and water intake, but the main benefits come from replacing sugary drinks and alcoholic beverages with Detox Water.
The liver is the organ that will really detox your body, and by replacing those drinks with water you will give your liver a rest.
What are the benefits of fruit infused water?
All the herbs, fruits and vegetables will only give flavour to the water and add a natural sweetness.
They don’t add any nutritional value to your diet, they are just healthier than the added sugar of most fizzy drinks.
How can detox water help you loose weight?
It is a low calories drink and if accompanied by a healthy diet will help you to reduce your daily calories intake.
